Successful building design combines innovation, technical skills and commercial astuteness to ensure engineering services are fully integrated with the built environment, installed on time and on budget.

We work closely with all the members of the design team to offer tailored mechanical, electrical, public health and sustainability solutions that are carefully co-ordinated (often in 3D) to ensure issues and potential clashes during the construction stage are reduced to a minimum. Robust testing and commissioning procedures are central to all successful schemes and this is always a focal part of all our projects.

Our hands-on approach has proved extremely successful as we have been working with many of our key clients for over 20 years.

Building Services

With the majority of construction projects driven by budget constraints, the emphasis on value engineering is stronger than ever.

We take a proactive role in this process and consider costs benefits and life-cycle cost when we're selecting and designing systems and solutions.

Our core consulting costs include the following:

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
Controls and BMS

High and low voltage distribution
Standby power, generators and uninterruptable power supplies
Fire alarm, protection and suppression

Public Health services
Hot and cold water services

Utility services

Renewable energy solutions
Low and zero carbon technologies
Water reclaim and recycling

Strategic Planning

Critical system and essential operation planning during the early stages of the decision-making process, ensures workable solutions are found for buildings, systems and procedures that reduce risk.

We use a risk evaluation approach to look at your requirements, installation and operational procedures, and plan a strategic process to ensure the highest level of resilience is achieved. We can also offer advice in respect of procurement options and category management of services installations and equipment, as well as integrated system testing.

This systematic review and analysis ensures all key stakeholders can make clear and informed decisions about risk, resilience, budget, programme or operational demands, and include mitigation measures where necessary.

Due Diligence

Due diligence enables you to make an informed decision about the next stage of the process whether you’re buying, refurbishing, extending or renting a building.

Using our technical expertise, we carry out development appraisals, feasibility studies, cost consulting, and condition surveys and audits.

This process of due diligence ensures you are fully informed of the risks involved and the steps that can be taken to mitigate them.

Engineering Design

To meet challenging construction timescales and improve construction efficiencies, the industry needs innovative engineering design solutions that push boundaries.

Working to a specific brief and budget, we use our extensive technical experience to create those solutions which help project delivery, and save time and money without compromising on safety or quality.

The majority of our engineering projects require the complete engineering package including design development, technical specifications and compliance, and co-ordinated CAD drawings, and we often use the latest in 3D REVIT Building Information Modelling (BIM).

To ensure quality of service, it’s company policy that all projects have senior manager involvement. It’s this high level of technical expertise plus our dynamic approach to problem solving that ensures you have the most cost effective solution for your project.

Sustainability and Energy

Construction projects are obligated to meet energy improvements required by continuously stringent Building Regulations. This means the construction industry must reduce the energy used by buildings by improving efficiency and utilising sustainable and low/zero carbon technologies.

We’re committed to sustainable construction and have significant experience in sustainability initiatives, renewable energy, energy efficiency solutions and promoting energy conservation. We also employ in-house low carbon and sustainability consultants.

Our services include sustainability and renewable energy reports and studies, dynamic thermal modelling, energy performance certificates (EPCs), Part L Building Regulation Calculations, and research and development.

By factoring in sustainably from the outset, your building project is not only compliant with statutory requirements but also enjoys a host of environmental, economic and social benefits.

Onsite monitoring and management

For a building to operate efficiently and effectively, the services installation must be robust and fit for purpose.

To ensure an installation operates and functions as designed, we offer the full range of onsite monitoring services, including factory witness testing, site testing, integrated system testing, witnessing commissioning (including seasonal commissioning) and handover management.

Only after all these services have been completed are we satisfied that the building will operate in an efficient and effective manner.

Building projects are most efficient when there’s a collaboration and clear communication between designers, architects, structural engineers, contractors, and facilities managers.

We’re experts in Autodesk REVIT Building Information Modelling (BIM), which enables us to work with all parties to plan and track various stages of a building's lifecycle performance. This allows us to provide ‘cradle to grave’ advice on building operation, performance and cost.

By using this state-of-the-art software, we can get a better understanding of a building’s thermal properties. This enables us to ensure the services selection and design is the ‘best fit’ for the building.
